You are not alone

I am a liberal and a lifelong Democrat. I never thought I would even consider voting for anyone but a Democrat for president, but the Clintons' behavior over the last couple months have made me sick.

Now I'm really vexed. If Hillary wins the nomination, I don't know what I'm going to do. On the one hand, I don't want to see the Clintons' behavior rewarded. On the other, I want to see an end to the Bush era, and I'm particularly worried about the number of Supreme Court vacancies that will come up in the four years.

I wasn't predisposed to hate the Clintons. Up until a few months ago, I loved them. But with their recent tactics, their lying, their race baiting, I can't support them.

Reading comments to some of my favorite blogs, such as Talking Points Memo and Political Animal, I know I am not alone.

A political blog addict, I went looking for other people who shared my values and concerns. Though Andrew Sullivan is great on this issue, I couldn't find any forums where like minded people could discuss the dilemma in which we find ourselves.

That's why I started this blog -- Clinton Vexation. I am hoping to create a place where like-minded people can talk about their concerns about the Clintons, and what we should do about it, particularly if Hillary Clinton wins the nomination.

Here's what I am asking. If you want to be involved in creating this forum, send me an email at clintonvexation@gmail.com. Also, if you have any thoughts about these issue, feel free to leave them in the comments.

If there is a enough interest, I hope we can make a place to discuss what's happening and organize around our common concerns.

To paraphrase:

It's the Surname, Stupid!

Most people left of center (the US center) seem to be rightfully uncomfortable with "my country, right or wrong" but will have no problem with "my party, right or wrong."

Make no mistake, I came into this election with one objective: to do my best to prevent dynasty-governance. It's simply bad for the country and encourages entrenchment and cronyism. In reality, the Clintons are no better than the Bushes, except that GWB is a few IQ points shy of the Clintons. But the gross misuse of power is the same in either case.

However, HRC and Bill have made it all too easy to find other reasons to block another Clinton Administration. For starters, Bill has the responsibility to act like an ex-President first. I have no problem with his campaigning for Hillary but sometime after she got clobbered in Iowa, plan B came out.

It is simply not appropriate for an ex-President to act this way. I looked past the Oval Office sex and hearings, mostly because he was already there, but now he is disrespecting the office of the presidency before he even gets back.

Here are the sad facts:

The real issue for the next president will be energy, pure and simple. Energy controls our economy and therefore controls our foreign policy. All indications are we are past peak oil. The next president will be overwhelmed by this issue to the point that universal health care won't even see the light of day.

It's like thinking about what Lincoln could have done as a president had he not had a few pesky domestic issues that took all of his time.

In times of genuine crisis, the country is pretty good about getting it together. It won't be Kumbaya, but it won't be Rovian either -- neither side can really afford it because both sides like the status quo (e.g. a two party system with both sides benefiting).

This is how you can vote for a McCain. In fact, only Huckabee really strikes me as scarey because he is so anti-intellectual. And in times of crises, those people who are so very, very certain about their faith tend to come up with some very unchristian ideas.

We need to heal the Democratic Party and stock the Clinton machine. Say "no" to dynasty rule in the United States. We fought a war about it some time back, I believe.

the clintons are an embarassment to the party, and are the last thing this country needs. do not reard them with your vote.

I'll gladly vote mccain or bloomberg over hillary, but right now i'm fighting for Obama
